Andrew Moulds was a one-off original who I was very proud to call one of my closest friends, as well as my first love. We met in Edinburgh in 1990, studying at Napier University. The course of true love didn't run smoothly and we were on again and off again for a while, but ended up in a 5 year long relationship, sharing our life together. There are so many treasured memories of times we spent, a camping trip to the Lake District, a holiday to Amsterdam and Rotterdam with his parents, trips to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana to visit my parents. He loved Africa, being such a nature lover, and was in his element, fascinated by all the exotic animals, birds and insects. I've kept all the letters, cards, poems & drawings he sent me, and diaries I wrote during our time together, and these have been a great source of comfort, some laughs and a fair few tears since I heard the tragic news of his passing. Looking at photos, I can feel his presence; the warm radiance from his face, his floppy hair that had a mind of its own, his casual, laid back manner & style. Andy was the most loyal and supportive person I ever met, generous, kind, extremely intelligent, hilariously funny and he was a beautiful soul, inside and out. He could make friends at the drop of a hat and attracted all sorts of people with his warm, friendly manner, always up for a bit of fun and nonsense. Despite not making it as a couple, we never stopped loving or caring about each other for a minute, and I feel so very fortunate to have had him in my life. Words can't express how much I miss him, and my heart goes out to all the family members, friends and colleagues who share in this sadness. Love you forever Andy Moulds x
